Historic Lighting & Hand-Dipped Candle Workshop
Historic Lighting & Hand-Dipped Candle Workshop
Saturday, February 28 | 10:00 AM–2:00 PM
Cost: $45 per person
Step back in time and explore how people lit their homes before electricity in this hands-on historic lighting workshop. Participants will learn about traditional lighting methods and the role candles played in everyday life while creating their own hand-dipped taper candles.
The workshop will cover historic approaches to measuring and preparing wax, followed by guided instruction in dipping taper candles using methods similar to those practiced in the past. Participants will also learn how to properly finish and care for their candles so they can be safely used at home.
No prior experience is necessary. All materials are provided, and each participant will leave with a set of handmade candles and a deeper understanding of historic household lighting. Participants should bring a lunch. This workshop is for participants ages 15 and older.
