2025
Homeschool students are invited to join Quiet Valley Staff and Volunteers for a Winter Camp at Quiet Valley. Be sure to bundle up, as we will be spending some part of each day on the farm. The cost of camp is $25 per day. Participants may register for all three days or individual days of camp. When you register for all 3 days, you’ll save $5 per day. Click here to see the topics for all three weeks.
- Topics:
- Grades 1-4: Farm Hand Adventure
- Instructor: Deb Seip
- Description: After learning how a farmstead was settled in the late 1700s, the students are taught the bread making process from yeast to rising dough. Each child kneads the dough, shapes it, and at the end of the day takes home a small loaf of freshly baked bread. They will also get to churn butter, process wheat and learn about PA Dutch folk art and make their own art piece to take home. This is an active, hands-on way to learn about important farm products like wheat and milk.
- Grades 5-8: Basketry
- Instructor: Rachel Kresge
- Description: Learn about different types of traditional baskets and their uses. What types of materials did people use to make baskets? How were different baskets used around the farm? Then, create your own 6”x8”x5” gathering bast to take home!
- Grades 1-4: Farm Hand Adventure
- Cost: $25 (sign up for all 3 weeks and receive $5 off per day)
