Quiet Valley Fibershed

June 25, 2026

The Quiet Valley Fibershed is a youth-led initiative dedicated to exploring the history and practice of fiber arts. Participants learn traditional skills such as wool processing, spinning, weaving, knitting, sewing, and other textile crafts while gaining a deeper understanding of the connection between agriculture and clothing production.

Throughout the summer, members of the Fibershed work together to develop their skills, conduct research, and share their knowledge with visitors through demonstrations and special projects. By following the journey of fiber from farm to finished product, participants help preserve traditional textile arts and highlight the important role fibers played in everyday life on nineteenth-century Pennsylvania farms.

Visitors are invited to stop by the Fibershed on Thursdays to meet our young fiber artists, learn about historic textile production, and see traditional fiber crafts in action.

Date: Thursdays between June 20 – September 7, 2026
Time: During regular museum hours, Tuesday–Saturday, 10:00am–4:00pm
Fee: Included with tour admission
Instructor: Quiet Valley Youth Fibershed Participants and Staff Mentors
