Come enjoy baby farm animals, children’s shows and games, hands-on activities, refreshments & more.
Frolic offers two weekends of fun for the entire family as Quiet Valley comes alive with baby farm animals. This is a unique opportunity for children and the young-at-heart to see a variety of animals up close and personal. Watch baby chicks hatching from their eggs and feel the soft fur of the baby bunnies. Don’t miss the new lambs with their woolly fleeces and the frisky baby goats. The adorable baby piglets with their funny little noses charm everyone. Get to know the workhorses, Jenny and Judy and all they are used for on the farm.
Children always love the hay jump in the barn, and they can play some of the traditional games enjoyed by past generations. There is a children’s show twice a day. The outdoor brick bake oven is in operation both weekends. There is plenty of hearty homemade food and sweet treats for all!
The hands-on theme area will be the Goat Pen where you can learn all sorts of goat lore and enjoy some crafts and activities that will make you feel like a “kid” again.
Everyone will enjoy a ride in the wagon pulled by draft horses. The wagon ride takes about 20 minutes and takes you down an old railroad bed from the 1800’s to the pond where we harvest ice in the winter. Pony rides are an annual Frolic favorite. Pony and Wagon Rides are an extra charge and are weather permitting.
Sheep Shearing – Date TBA Come see sheep shearer Margaret Quinn use hand blades to shear the fleeces off the Quiet Valley sheep. The wool from the fleeces is used on the farm as it is washed, spun into yarn, dyed and then woven into cloth on the cabin loom during the summer.
Sheep to Shawl – Date TBA The spinners and weavers will be doing a Sheep to Shawl demonstration where they will take a freshly sheared fleece, spin it into yarn and weave it into a shawl all in one day. The shawl will be raffled off at our Old Time Christmas event in December.
Pocono Wildlife Program – Date TBA
Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation Center will share information on their mission and introduce you to some of the local wildlife for whom they are caring.
One Room School presentations – both Sundays Get a glimpse of a typical school day circa 1893.
