Outreach Programs

Pennsylvania German Celebrations and Superstitions
When the Pennsylvania Germans came to America, they brought their customs and traditions with them.  This hour-long talk will cover their calendar from New Year’s Day to  Christmas and participants will learn about common agricultural superstitions and how these impacted the daily life of the people. You may be surprised to discover how many Pennsylvania German traditions we still celebrate today!

Campfire Cooking Workshop
Everything old is new again, and this is particularly true when you cook your meal over a fire. Methods of fire cooking have not changed much over the centuries and, with practice, you will be able to cook your own meals. All participants will make a complete meal following    instructions from the workshop leaders. This workshop is great for campgrounds and other camp groups who would want to try their skills at cooking outdoors.  Cost for this workshop is $15 per person plus mileage to and from your location.
